About Niekie

Niekie scores online casinos on whether they actually pay out. Two people are behind it, and both are named because a score nobody will put their name to is not worth much.

Who we are

Otto Bergström
Founder

18 years auditing iGaming operators. Founded Niekie and wrote the scoring methodology: which signals count and what each is worth, the judgement the algorithm then applies identically to every operator.

Built Niekie: the scoring pipeline, the license and sanctions checks, the public status pages and the browser extension. Runs the data side of the audit day to day.

Why it exists

Most casino ranking sites sell the top slot. The order is chosen commercially and the review is written afterwards to justify it. That is legal, and it is not what it looks like.

Niekie was built the other way round. An algorithm computes every score from recorded data, the order of a ranking is that score sorted, and the method is published in full on how we score. A commercial relationship is not one of the formula's inputs, which is a fact about the code rather than a promise, and the code is published.

What Niekie publishes

  • A 0 to 100 compliance score for each of the 42 offshore casinos we cover, computed by algorithm from 5 weighted pillars.
  • Observed game returns counted from casinos' own public bet feeds, over 1.4 million settled rounds across roughly 7,000 games, published only when the 95% interval is within 10 points.
  • How often each studio's games return nothing, across every round we have captured.
  • The evidence behind each figure, and an explicit list of the claims we refuse to make.

How to reach us

Corrections to an operator's data are the most useful thing you can send, and they go straight into the queue. Contact us here.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Niekie?

Niekie is independently owned and is not part of any casino group. Otto Bergstrom, founder, designed the scoring method after 18 years auditing iGaming operators. Maj Jan Krosl built the pipeline and the public site. Both are named because a score nobody will put their name to is not worth much.

Does Niekie make money from the casinos it rates?

Advertising and commercial arrangements are possible, and none of them is an input to a score. Scoring runs from recorded data by one published algorithm, and each result is hashed over its inputs, so the same evidence produces the same number every time and anyone can recompute one.

How is Niekie different from other casino review sites?

Most ranking sites sell the top position and write the review afterwards to justify it. Niekie computes every score with an algorithm from recorded sources an operator cannot edit, and a ranking is that score sorted. The full method is published, including the things the score cannot tell you.

Can a casino pay to change its score?

No. There is no field anywhere in the system that lets a person adjust a number. Every calculation is sealed with a SHA-256 hash over a canonical serialisation of its inputs, so a score that had been altered would no longer match its own hash.

How do I report an error in your data?

Send it through the contact page. Corrections to an operator record are the most useful thing you can send and go straight into the queue. We have published two of our own significant errors and will publish more.
